Stems erect, 30-100 cm tall, puberulent upward, branches often spreading; lower leaves smaller; median leaves ovate or ovate-oblong, 4-20×3-12 cm, apex acute to obtuse, base rounded-cuneate, margins crenate-serrate or doubly serrate, upper surface green and shiny, lower surface pale, sparsely hairy on both surfaces; petiole 1-6 cm long; upper leaves few, linear, 5-10 mm long. Inflorescence of lax corymbs; heads 5.5-7×9-10 mm tall, pedunculate; involucral bracts 2-seriate, equal, base connate, narrowly oblong, apex rounded, reflexed; corolla tubular, 2.5 mm long, 5-dentate, glandular pilose; style long-exserted, arms 2 mm long; anthers included, base obtuse, apex not appendiculate. Achenes subcylindric, ca. 2.5-4×1 mm long, sparsely warty or glandular dotted; pappus bristles 3 or 4, 1 mm long.
