Perennial rhizomatous erect herbs, stems terete, 30-70 cm tall, hirsute, branching upward. Radical leaves few to 8, present at anthesis, apex acute, oblong to spatulate, base narrowly elongate, margins remotely serrate with 2 or 3 pairs of shallow teeth, 6-10 cm long, 1.5-2.5 cm wide. Cauline leaves elliptic to oblong, sometimes ovate, apex acute, base cuneate to obtuse, sessile or short petiolate, margins dentate apically with 2-3 pairs of teeth, 4.5-6.5 cm long, 1.5-2.5 cm wide, upper surface dark green, chartaceous, lower surface pale, somewhat sponge-like, sparsely hirtellous and pitted glandular punctate on both surfaces, 3-nerved, veins inconspicuous. Leaves gradually smaller upward. Heads few to many in loose corymbs, 1.5-2.2 cm across; peduncle 1.5-3 cm long, strigillose. Involucre hemispheric to bowl-shaped, 3-5 mm tall, 4.5-6 mm across. Phyllaries herbaceous with scarious margins, strigillose, ciliolate, 3-4 seriate, linear to subulate, outer bracts smaller, ca. 1.5 mm long, inner bracts 2.5-3.5 mm long, ca. 0.5 mm wide. Ray florets 8-14, 1-seriate, ligules white, 10 mm long, 1.5-1.8 mm wide. Disc florets greenish. Corolla 2.8 mm long. Pappus dirty white, 2.5-3 mm long. Achenes reddish brown, 2-2.5 long, 0.8-1 mm across, compressed obovoid, densely strigillose, glandular punctate. Fl. Jun-Aug.

Endemic; moist rocky mountain ridges, 500-800 m in northern Taiwan, rare.
