Perennial, small, stout herbs with thickened rhizomes. Stems terete, subscapose, 10-20 cm tall, densely pubescent; branches few. Radical leaves present at anthesis, many in rosette, ascending, spatulate, 2.5-6.5 cm long, 8-19 mm wide, inner leaves longer, apex rounded, base narrowed into winged petiole, margins entire or scarcely crenulate, densely pubescent and scarcely glandular punctate on both surfaces, rarely without glands. Cauline leaves sparse, gradually smaller upward, spatulate to oblong, sessile, apex obtuse or acute, base attenuate to cuneate, densely pubescent, scarcely glandular punctate or without glands. Heads solitary or few at apex of branches, 2.5-3.5 cm across; peduncle 3.5-4.5 cm long. Involucre hemispheric or bowl-shaped, 7-10 mm long, 1.5-1.9 cm across, bracts 3 seriate, subequal, entire, lanceolate, apex obtuse, 6-9 mm long, 1.5-2.5 mm wide, herbaceous, outside densely hirsute, apically pubescent inside. Ray florets 14-18 in one row, ligules white, 8.5-17 mm long, 1.4-2.5 mm wide. Disc florets yellow, 4.5 mm long. Pappus tawny, 3.5-4.5 mm long at maturity. Achenes narrowly obovate, 3.5-4 mm long, ca. 1 mm wide, densely puberulous, densely glandular punctate, brown. Fl. Jul-Sep. Chromosome number, 2n = 18 (Peng & Hsu, 1978).

Endemic; among exposed rocks in alpine regions, 3,400-3,700 m.
