  • Galeola javanica (Blume) Benth. & Hook. f.

    Plants ca. 10 cm tall. Roots fascicled, tuberous, fleshy, cylindrical or clavate, 5-8 cm long, 0.8-1.2 cm thick. Stems 6-8 cm long, 1-3-branched, covered with imbricate scales. Scales elliptic ovate, apex acute, concave or hemispherical at base, glabrous, yellowish brown, turning dark brown with age. Racemes terminal, with 5-8 flowers; floral bracts subtriangular; pedicel and ovary pubescent. Flowers fleshy, yellowish brown, sepals thick, mealy pubescent outside, dorsal one oblong, 16 mm long, 8 mm wide, slightly concave, lateral ones broadly ovate, 16 mm long, 9 mm wide, slightly concave; petals oblong, 15 mm long, 7 mm wide, much thinner than sepals, flat; lip semiorbicular, 15 mm long, glabrous, light yellow at base, whitish near apex, front edge incurved, disc thickened, limb spongy; column clavate, 8 mm long, dilated, with 2 lateral erose-dentate wings at apex; anther subglobose, short papillose on upper surface. Fruits 5 cm long, sausage-shaped, slightly 3-ridged, yellowish brown.
