    Perennial herbs; stems woody at base, 20-30 cm long, somewhat tufted. Radical leaves persistent, glabrous, long 4.5-9 cm long, sometimes undivided and linear, usually pinnately parted, segments 2 or 3 pairs, remote, spreading, linear, 1.8 –2 mm wide, obtuse, lower segments 8-20 mm long, petiole 2.7-6 cm long; median leaves few, remote, petiolate, 3-4 cm long, pinnately parted or linear; upper leaves smaller, linear. Heads 7 mm across, solitary, basal bracteoles 1.5 mm long. Involucral bracts and palea ca. 7, oblong, 3 mm long. Ray florets few, in 1 series, fertile, corolla 3.5 mm long, lip 3-dentate. Disc florets: corolla 2.5 mm long, apex 4-dentate. pappus awns erect, 1.5-2 cm long. Chromosome number, 2n = 24 (Peng & Hsu, 1978).

    PENGHU: Wangan Isl., Leu 2062; Makung, Sokang, Peng 12747. PINGTUNG: Kenting, Peng 7119; Maopitou, Peng 7168; Oluanpi, Ying 9321 (Holotype of Glossogyne oluanpiensis S. S. Ying).

    Southern Asia, Australia and New Caledonia. Taiwan, in exposed coastal areas, sometimes on raised coral reefs, in the south and on islets near Penghu.
