About 15-20 species in eastern Asia. 7 species in the FSU. H. coreana Nakai, H. esculenta Koidz., H. middendorfii Trautv. et C. A. Mey. and H. yezoensis Hara occur in the Far East, H. lilo-asphodelus L. occurs in Siberia and the Far East, H. fulva (L.) L. is naturalized in the European part of the FSU and the Caucasus. H. minor Mill. is a very well-known ornamental plant in many regions of the FSU. H. middendorfii is poorly known in cultivation.
