Generally annual but sometimes perennial glabrous herbs. Basal leaves petiolate. Flowers in leafy racemes. Calyx 5-partite, slightly accrescent in fruit. Corolla hypocrateriform or rotate. Throat scales present, with apex slightly bifid. Gynobase shortly pyramidal. Nutlets ovoid to oblong, minutely tuberculate.
About 5 species from China to the NW. Himalaya. Represented in Pakistan by 1 species.
