Annual or perennial. Leaves toothed or divided, stipulate. Flowers umbellate or solitary, pentamerous. Sepals and petals imbricate, the latter alternating with 5 glands. Stamens 15, all fertile. Ovary 5-lobed, 5-locular. Fruit a schizocarp with 5 mericarps; mericarps with a tail as long as beak.
25 species in Africa, especially the South, Madagascar, S.W. Asia, N.W. India and Pakistan. Represented in Pakistan by 3 species.
