Small evergreen trees or shrubs. Leaves with 5-27 leaflets, alternate. Flowers in cymes or corymbs, axillary or terminal. Sepals 5, basally united. Petals 5, free. Stamens 5+5, filaments alternately short, subulate. Ovary 2-5-locular, on a disc. Stigma capitate or lobed. Fruit a berry, 1-2-seeded. Seeds hairy or glabrous.
An Indo-Malayasian genus of about 12 species distributed in tropical Asia, Australia and Madagascar. Found both wild and cultivated in Pakistan, where it is represented by 2 species.
