Tradescanlia purpurescens Schau.
Similar to the previous species but plants, including leaves, deeply reddish-purple. Leaves elliptic-lanceolate, usually obscurely ciliate on the surface but conspicuously so on the margins and base. Flowers deep pink.
Distribution: Native of Central America and Southern U.S., widely cultivated as an ornamental in tropical and subtropical regions.
