Bupleurum rotundifolium Linn., Sp. Pl. 236. 1753. Boiss., Fl. Or. l.c. 836; Wolff in Engler, l.c. 41; Hiroe, Umb. Asia, l.c. 86.

Annual, 10-40 cm tall, glabrous, branches few. Leaves glaucous green; lower and middle oval to oblong; veins 7-11; bases amplexicaul; apices obtuse, mucronate; upper leaves perfoliate, almost orbicular; veins numerous. Pedunc┬Čles 1-3 cm long. Involucral bracts lacking. Rays 5-10, 5-10 mm long. Involucel of 5-6 slightly connate, oval to ovate bractlets, tips acuminate to cuspidate, veins 5-9, prominent. Fruit oblong; ridges filiform.

Type locality: Described from S. Europe.

Distribution: Europe, Eastern and Central U.S.A., Middle East, Iran, USSR, W. Pakistan.

This species is rare in our area and has been collected only once from the Kotli region.
