Perennial, erect, branched, c. 60 cm tall. Lower leaves linear, 6-15 cm long, base amplexicaul, veins 7-9; upper leaves lanceolate to ovate, veins numerous, apex long acuminate, base broad, amplexicaul, inflated. Involucral bracts lacking, rarely 1-3, lanceolate to oval. Rays (6)-8- 12, stout. Involucel of 5 lanceo¬late bractlets, shorter than the flowering umbellet, veins 3-5, apex cuspidate. Fruit oblong, strongly ribbed; stylopodium yellow to brown; furrows 3-vittate. 
 
 
Type locality: Described from Kashmir.
