Bupleurum aitchisonii (Boiss.) Wolff
Perennial, decumbent. Stems many from the base, up to 15 cm long. Basal leaves crowded, linear, veins 5-7; upper leaves shorter, lanceolate to oval, vein 7-11, base broad, amplexicaul, apex acuminate, caudate. Involucral bracts 2-3 oval, unequal, veins 5-7. Rays 2-4. Involucel of 5-6 lanceolate to oval or ovate bractlets, as long or longer than the flowering umbellet, apex acute. Petals and stylopodium dark purple to black. Styles short, divaricate.
Type: Kashmir, Sonamarg, R.R. Stewart 9880 (Holotype, RAW; Isotype, UC).
Distribution: Himalayas.
A rare plant of high altitudes.
