Physorrhynchus chamaerapistrum (Boiss.) Boiss., F1.Or. 1:403. 1867. Hedge in Rech.f., l.c. 52.
Zilla chamaerapistrum Boiss.Zilla schouwioides Boiss.
Indistinguishable from the above species in habit and appearance but has only 2 ovules, one in each locule of the ovary, and the basal part of the fruit short and subtriangular, often inconspicuous.
Fl.Per. April-May.
Type: S. Iran, Aucher Eloy 4169 a (G).
Distribution: Iran and Pakistan.
Aucher Eloy 4146, without mature fruits from S. Iran, was included under Physorrhynchus brahuicus by Boissier (l.c.) but O.E. Schulz (l.c.) included it under Physorrhynchus chamaerap¬istrum. This shows how difficult it is to separate the two species. The former species generally prefers stony and rocky habitat while the latter is found in sandy plateau.
