Allium semenovii auct. non Regel: Hook.f.
Bulbs solitary or tufted, cylindrical, 4-6 cm long, outer coats blackish, coriaceous, striate. Scapes 15 to 50 cm tall, 1/4 to 1/2 base covered with leaf sheaths. Leaves 1 to 3, cylindrical, fistular; leaf sheaths broad, margins membranous. Umbels subglobose, 2-3 cm across. Flowers condensed. Pedicels c. 8 mm long. Tepals yellow, 10-12 mm long, oval to elliptic-oblong, acute. Filaments about half the length of the tepals, connate, upper part of the filaments free, inner filaments obtusely toothed. Stigma 3-lobed. Capsule oblong, c. 6 mm long; seeds c. 5 mm long, granulate.
Type: Turkestan, Sarawschausk valley, Fedtschenko (K, isotype).
Distribution: Central Asia, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
A plant of high altitudes, usually above 3000 m. It resembles Allium semenovii Regel in facies but differs in having fistular leaves.
