  • Cynoglossum macrophyllum Royle ex Benth.
  • Cynoglossum uncinatum var. laxiforum Royle ex Benth.
  • Hackelia stewartii I.M. Johnston
  • Lappula macrophylla Brand

Similar to Hackelia uncinata, but more robust, with larger cordate to cordate-ovate leaves that are ± crisp and glabrous above, flowers that are pale white with bluish spots at base of corolla lobes and nutlets with middle dorsal area ± keeled and appendaged.

    Fl. Per.: June-July.

Type: Nagkanga, Than et Urrukta, Royle s.n. (K).

    Distribution: Pakistan, Kashmir.

Generally found in the lower forest zone from 1850-2800 m. The above cited specimens marked (*) have been cited provisionally under Hackelia macrophylla. They conform to this species in the larger cordate leaves which are glabrous to subglabrous above, oblong throat scales of the corolla and nutlets with middle dorsal area that is appendiculate. The flower colour varies from white to pale blue. In this regard the specimens approach Hackelia stewartii which generally has blue flowers. The leaf size in these specimens along with pubescence, style length (0.6-1.1 mm) and density of fruit appendages, suggest that Hackelia stewartii might be a hybrid between Hackelia macrophylla and Hackelia uncinata. More plant collection and field study is requied to verify this.
