1 Petioles with long, 3-4 mm spreading hairs.   (2)
+ Petioles with c. 1-2 mm (pilose) hairs, generally adpressed, or floccose-tomentose.   (3)
       
2 (1) Underside of the leaflet sparsely tomentose without floccose hairs with glands under the tomentum, sepals and carpels with prominent yellowish glands, petals c. 5 mm long.   32 Potentilla x agrimonioides
+ Underside of the leaflets densely tomentose with floccose hairs, glands under the tomentum absent, sepals and carpels eglandulose, petals 8-9 mm long.   29 Potentilla plurijuga
