Annual herbs, stems erect, 30-110 cm tall, copiously pubescent with crisped hairs, sometimes branched. Leaves opposite, petiolate, ovate, to deltoid, 4-7 cm long, thick, apex acute, base usually cordate, margins crenate. Heads over 6 mm across; involucre ca. 5 mm long, bracts subulate to linear-lanceolate, apex acuminate, margins entire, ciliolate, densely glandular puberulous outside; corolla blue, ca. 3 mm long. achenes stout, ca. 2 mm long; pappus of 5 scales nearly 2.5 mm long, ending in a slender tip less than twice as long as body.
