Gnaphalium formosanum Hayata
Robust herbs. Stems erect, 4-8 mm in diam., 50-100 cm tall, unbranched or rarely branched below, corymbosely branched above, densely woolly. Basal leaves withering at anthesis; middle and lower leaves oblanceolate or subelliptic, 4-9×1-2 cm, apex obtuse, base decurrent, coriaceous, both surfaces densely tomentose, midrib elevated. Heads 5-7 mm across, in corymbs on upper stem. Involucre yellow or whitish, scarious, globose, 5-6 mm wide, in 3 or 4 series; outer bracts obovate or oblanceolate, ca. 4 mm long, rounded; inner bracts elliptic or oblong, ca. 4 mm long. Outer florets many, corolla ca. 3 mm; central florets 5-7, ca. 3 mm long. Achenes oblong, ca. 0.5 mm long. Pappus white, ca. 3 mm long.
