Woody climber with terete branches. Leaves ternate, in fascicles arising from the nodes. Leaflets 2.5-8 cm, shortly stalked or subsessile, ovate, acute, dentate, rarely subentire, sometimes incised near the base, shallowly trilobed, subglabrous or with scattered hairs on both surfaces, distinctly hairy along the nerves. Flowers solitary or 2-3-fascicled, white, or yellowish-white, on long silky pedicels. Sepals (2.2-) 2.5-4 cm long, broadly elliptic to obovate, obtuse, rarely ± acute, glabrous inside, usually hairy outside. Filaments glabrous from a flattened lanceolate base, subfiliform. Anthers linear, glabrous. Achenes glabrous on a hairy receptacle. Styles 18-28 (-30) mm, plumose-ciliate.

The species is very variable in leaf-size, margin of leaflets, colour and size of flowers. Found from 2000-3000 m.
