Biennial 12-35 cm tall, glandular-pubescent. Roots slender, 6-9 x 2.5-6 mm. Leaves rosulate, rosettes up to 7.5 cm broad; 15-32 (-44) x 4-7 mm, cartilaginous, spathulate, farinose (farina white, mealy), margin white and minutely ciliolate, yellowish-white (in dried state), apex cuspidate. Scapes 5-20 in number, 1.2-2.3 mm broad, up to 34 cm or more long, glandular, (3-) 10-26-flowered, Bracts 2.5-4 x 1-1.8 mm, ovate-lanceolate, glandular-pubescent. Pedicels variable in size from 4-30 (-40) mm, glandular, with hairs from 67-415.4 u long. Flowers pinkish-red. Calyx 3.5 mm long, campanulate, glandular; lobes 1.5-2.6 mm long,( obtuse or acute, pubescent on the margin with hairs variable in size from 160.8-603 u, white or rusty, sometimes with 1-3 proliferations. Corolla tube c. size of the calyx; lobes c. 3.5 mm long, apex bibbed. Stamens included, subsessile; anther c. 0.9-10 mm long. Capsule 3-4 mm broad, globose, exceeding the calyx, glabrous reddish-brown, the valves reflexed on dehiscence. Seeds 6-14 in number, elongate; (1.5-) 2-3 mm long, angled, vesiculose, brownish-black.
