    Annual. Stem 15-90 cm, quadrangular, branched or simple, Leaves 10-40 x 2-12 mm, glabrous, pubescent or cilliate, narrowly-ovate, acute or linear-oblong, obtuse or sub-acute. Inflorescence paniculate, many-flowered, dense or lax. Flowers pentamerous. Calyx lobes 3-10 x 1-5 mm, narrowly ovate to ovate, acute, glabrous or hairy or pubescent, equal or unequal. Corolla bluish white or greenish yellow with a purple band or blotches above gland, tube 1-1.5 mm, lobes 1.5-5 x 1-2.5 mm, ovate, acute, entire or eroded. Gland single per lobe, bourse-shoe shaped. Filaments usually dilated in the middle, rarely gradually dilated towards the base, slightly connate at the base or not, anther ovate-oblong, obtuse. Ovary 4-8 mm, style distinct, stigmas sub-linear to oblong. Capsule 5-10 mm. Seeds rounded, warted. 2n = 16, 20.
