Eupatorium L.

Eupatorium lindleyanum

Annual or perennial herbs. Leaves opposite or verticillate, entire or 3-lobed. Heads in corymbs or panicles. Involucral bracts subimbricate, usually persistent. Florets white, purple, lavender, or pink, funnel-shaped or differentiated into tube and limb, glandular. Style base puberulous, sometimes enlarged; style branch appendages sometimes broadened distally, papillose. Achenes glandular. Pappus of many scabrid bristles.

About 48 species in eastern North America, the West Indies and southern and eastern Asia; in Taiwan, eight species, one of which is represented by two varieties.
